look to the sky

.23.

[Phoenix is at home, standing in front of a hallway mirror. He seems a bit more nervous than usual, especially as he futzes with his appearance. Maya was going to be there soon.. and then what? Did he look too old?

It shouldn't have made much of a difference, but somehow, Maya stayed the same as she was seven years ago. Perhaps it was something to do with the city.

Either way.. he isn't sure what to expect, even as he adjusts his hat. Time has changed him too much.. this is probably going to be a disaster.

Probably.]

[Maya is just as worried as Phoenix is; she's standing outside the door, fidgeting with her channeling costume for what must be the millionth time. She isn't sure what to expect, which is why she hasn't knocked on the door just yet.]

C'mon, Maya! Things can't be that different... right?

[Steeling herself, she takes a deep breath, before knocking on the door.]
[Trucy was worried because her father was worried, but it made her giggle to see him fidget in front of the mirror. He reminded her of a girl getting ready for a prom date - or a meeting of a long lost sibling like in those soap opera's she watched over the summer - but it was oddly cute. She hadn't seen her father act like this before.

She had been sitting not too far away from him before, once again clad in her magician's outfit before she pushed herself up to her feet. Her hands behind her back she approached him, grinning some at the sound of the knock.]

You know Daddy, it's rude to keep a girl waiting. Maybe you should answer the door.

[She paused a moment, before giving him a confident smile.] You look fine you know. And if you need me to leave you alone just tell me okay?
[Phoenix stops tugging on his sweatshirt long enough to give her a 'look', which doesn't last long and breaks into a small smile.]

Yeah, you're right.

[He looks himself over once more and heads for the door.] You know, you could've answered the door, too. [He's joking, of course, but it still doesn't make it any easier to open the door.

Once he reaches it, he hesitates before he opens it, peeking out at.. exactly what he expected to see. Maya in her training garb. He smiles.]

Hey, stranger.
[She's so busy fidgeting with her costume that for a moment, she doesn't notice that the door's been opened. It's only when she hears that familiar voice that she looks up, and a bright smile claims her lips.]

Nick...! Nick!

[He looks a lot different to what she had anticipated; a lot older, a lot more worn. But she doesn't care - he's still Phoenix. And it takes all of her willpower not to hug him right there and then.]

It's been so long since we've seen each other. How have you been!?
[The fact that she's happy to see him is a good sign indeed, and he chuckles a bit at her comment before holding open the door so she could enter the organized chaos that is the 'Wright Anything Agency'. Despite the relocation, it quickly met up to how it was.]

Longer than you think. Pretty good, all things considering. How about you?
[As soon as she's stepped inside, her mouth falls open in pleasant surprise. Sure, it may be a little messy, but being around Phoenix means that things are in a state of organised chaos most of the time.]

Seven years, right? [She opens her mouth to ask why they hadn't been in contact those seven years, but decides against it.] I'm fine! Just, uh... really really confused. I still don't get what this city's all about.
Yeah. Seven years. [He shuts the door behind them and moves away from it, stuffing his hands in his pockets.]

It'll do that for a while. Even now, it still doesn't make any sense to me. [Aaand host!hobo is go.] Can I get you anything to drink?
[She tries her best not to stare, first at everything in the room, and then at Phoenix. Instead, she just smiles.]

How long have you been here for? Somehow, I knew you'd say something like that. [grins more] Oh, yes please! Something to drink would be great.
[Phoenix probably deserves to be stared at. He's grown very unkempt in those seven years he went AWOL. He should've probably shaved... but oh well. Too late for that now. He nods with a small grin and rises, heading for the kitchen.. where he sees Trucy. Oh, right. She's in there making tea.

Being nervous made him forgetful sometimes.]

Oh, Maya. I'm sure you've met my daughter already, right? [He chuckles.] She's apparently one of the self-proclaimed welcoming parties of Template.

Come here for a second, Trucy.
[She just laughs, peering over her shoulder as she releases the handle to the tea kettle.]

Self proclaimed? I was just being nice considering she was out in the rain. Besides I think you just nominated me. [She pointed out, before she stepped up next to Phoenix, grinning bright.]

Hiya! [She nodded, before tipping her head.] Welcome to Wright Anything Agency. Hope it's not too much of a mess. Daddy's been fretting all day.

I don't think I've ever seen the toilet shine that much though.
Yeah, she helped me out when I first got here! [grins at them both] It's nice to finally meet you, Trucy! It's not that much of a mess - it's a lot better than the office used to be, that's for sure!

[the last of her nervousness is pretty much gone now - she still feels a little unsure, but it's more like old times than she had even dared to hope.]
[Phoenix chuckles a bit.] Please, Trucy.. you flatter me too much. Really. [Despite the sarcasm, Trucy earns a loving pat to her shoulder. ♥]

Now I get to hear it from both of you? Sheesh, guys. I'm not that disorganized. [The mock hurt is merely sarcasm.. as his grin doesn't help his case at all. Nope.] I could be a lot worse, if I wanted to.
